ASSOCIATE MEDIA DIRECTOR, STRATEGY (CPG/RETAIL)

The Strategy AMD position is responsible for strategic and tactical development of media planning and buying with the integration of all the agency’s services. The ideal candidate will bring strong capabilities focusing on retail/CPG, including Hispanic market experience. We are seeking an individual with strong integrated media strategy experience who can plan agnostically across both digital and traditional channels.

This unique role will involve collaboration with the creative agency’s strategic process on anchor client account along with supporting new business initiatives. As such, the individual will be primarily based out of the creative agency’s Huntington Beach office (60-80%), along with regular presence at the Santa Monica office of Palisades Media Group (20-40%).

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a senior client contact, leading strategic thinking across campaigns.
  • Provide stimulus for innovative solutions to business and media issues.
  • Act as client advocate internally and the agency’s advocate to clients.
  • Liaise with key creative agency partners
  • Set realistic client expectations and make every effort to exceed them, providing quality work in a timely manner.
  • Supervise junior strategy team members and ensure their growth and development across all facets of the planning process.
  • Participate in day-to-day work as a hands-on manager.
  • Promote an open working environment where opinions, views and ideas can be shared.
  • Actively participate in new business planning and related presentations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues and vendors
  • 6 - 8 years of experience in traditional media. Other areas could include marketing or advertising account management. Hispanic market experience a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Track record of managing and developing a staff
  • Experience collaborating with creative agencies on holistic creative and media plan development
  • Ability to develop integrated marketing communication plans encompassing traditional and digital media strategies (Social, Search, Display, Advanced Video, etc.)
  • Skill in driving projects from conception to completion; project management experience
  • Knowledge of planning and research tools and resources
  • Technical proficiency, particularly with media systems and MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Experience/involvement in new business planning and presentations

Position Requirements

  • Willingness to split time at both creative agency (Huntington Beach) and media agency (Santa Monica) office locations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
